Goodness gracious, midterms came early this semester apparently.
Apologies for the absence, I've been losing my mind preparing papers and presentations, AND starting my internship at Nifty Thrifty! It's great to be busy, but it kept me from shooting, so sorry y'all.
Once I got a spare moment after all the madness this week, I took a walk down to Verameat and bought two new rings to mark my busy progress this semester. Vera Balyura, the artist behind the brand, has always captured my imagination with her work. Her pieces embody everything I could want in a jewelry line: opulence with a "bite", so to speak. Her jewelry is finely crafted with the knowledge that someday, another little girl might inherit whatever piece walks out the shop door. The designs are playful, almost satirical, but nonetheless beautiful and a joy to wear.
I ended up choosing two rings yesterday: the bone ring because it lets me pay homage to one of my all-time favorite films (2001: A Space Odyssey), and it looks incredibly elegant as it extends the line of the finger. The SOS band mirrors the catbird midi ring I tend to wear on my other hand. I had to go with SOS as a joke on how stressful this month has been, but also because it inherently means nothing outside the realm of sound (more on that here). Nope, not taking these guys off 'till I have to.
