For spring 2017, OAK combined the sartorial excellence of Sade and Sinéad O'Connor for an excellent debut NYFW presentation- I could have sworn they had presented before, but nope! This was their first.
I got the chance to head backstage before doors opened to catch a glimpse of everything as it came together. For makeup, Aveda took care of a dark, cherry red lip that was clearly taken from Sade's signature makeup- in fact that image I linked with her earlier is most likely where the look emerged from, including the hair, which was done by Sassoon in slick, cascading rope braid ponytails.
Loooooved this show- one thing that the Vogue review of this collection mentions is that the styling was inspired by the days before celebrities were meticulously polished and styled by someone else, so everything looks super pedestrian and special. Sleek hair+makeup, lotsa OAK signature denim, tube socks, leather biker jackets-turned-coats, and tee shirts...what's not to like?
