Fall Film Wardrobe Inspiration: The Graduate

For fall, I always think of collegiate style and classic movies like The Graduate, the very film I was thinking of immediately when I was styling it up with H&M (keep readin'). I am utterly obsessed with this movie, from the characters to the soundtrack, I've been watching this movie since I was 13 and I never get tired of it.

What I really love is the juxtaposition of the sultry Mrs.Robinson, and her daughter Elaine, who is more normal and youthful. Mrs.Robinson of course steals the show with her signature leopard coat and the lingerie she exposes to seduce the much younger and shyer Benjamin, knocking him on his feet and pushing him into a mess of a situation. Elaine is more of a normal girl from a well-to-do family, and dresses accordingly. I love styling around characters and bringing elements from two different personalities together!

Part of what I'm basing my studies at Parsons on is this idea that Fashion is basically equal to culture, and that all art forms and methods of producing personality go into the industry, so it's important to take heed of what makes individuality and character so important when it comes to clothes!

And Now, The Fun Part

Now I'm really excited to share with you guys an awesome opportunity that came 'round recently. Alongside 4 other amazing Blogga ladies who I adore to pieces, I was able to style an autumn outfit from some of my favorite pieces from H&M with Refinery29! I almost died when I saw the coat I'm wearing. It was SOOO warm and it felt so glamorous to just throw on top of anything, something that is hard to achieve when it's cold and miserable outside and you have to layer so many bulky pieces!

Now is your chance to make your closet even more awesome! Vote HERE for your fave look (heyy :D) and leave a comment for a chance to win a $500 gift card to H&M! You deserve it!!

  7. Voted for your Mrs. Robinson look on the Refinery29 H&M blogger style competition! LOVE it - so classic & timeless...

  8. Nice dress, I actually ordered a dress from a famous designer’s bridal collection as well for double the price and returned it immediately because the material felt so cheap compared to the my other one.
