To The New Year

This past year was pretty incredible. There were a lot of ups and downs, but just like with any other year that passes, you power through everything with the hope that there has been a lot to learn and grow from. Between my two collaborations, the new friends I have come to know and love, the experiences I've been able to have and the projects I've been able to take on, I feel incredibly lucky and ready to take on whatever's coming next (which hopefully includes the next steps to becoming a person...yikes).

From the bottom of my heart, I gotta thank all of you for reading and sharing, I really don't know what I'd do without the blogging community and everyone I have been able to learn from.
Here's to 2013!

Asos crop top, Banana Republic pants (a million seasons old), Vintage coat, Underground winklepickers, Vintage Hamilton watch

Because I'm essentially living out of a suitcase right now, I've parred down my outfits and I've been enjoying the challenge of stretching different pairings of a limited selection of pieces. I found this coat at my favorite local thrift store when I arrived back home and I've been obsessed ever since I left the store with it. Not only is it incredibly practical and warm, it's beautifully made and I really appreciate its slight use of detailing.

Ah yes, back in the 'ol attic.
The 3rd floor/attic of my family's home in Buffalo was my sanctuary in high school, and I absolutely love being back in it. I took it up as my studio bedroom for the last three years of high school but I never utilized this brick wall when I started my blog.

I wore a lot more vintage back when I was in high school, so I was able to dig up a few pieces I left behind like this dance romper that I must've worn a million times two summers ago. Pretty much just threw something together to knock around in.

On another note, Happy Holidays, errybody!

Home//Jetts

Glad to be home for a little holiday vacation.
Brought along a little piece of NYC with me: Modern Vice's magnificent vintage-inspired Jetts because they literally go with errythang and they were super easy to take on/off at the airport (a must).

It's always wonderful to come home at the end of a semester, especially for winter break. I spent 5 years in our house here in Buffalo, and every time I come back, I just fill up with nostalgia for that period of time I spent trying to figure out who I was and who I wanted to be. I'm still pretty much working on that, but coming back here gives me clarity, even for a little bit.

On a rainy afternoon last Sunday, Nat took me to the Antipodium boutique/café in SoHo and I was immediately smitten with the place, let alone the brand, which is fairly new and fairly amazing!

Style & The Gang with Nine West

W118 Walter Baker coat (c/o), Cheap Monday tee (c/o), Free People jeans, vintage Oscar de la Renta blouse, Nine West Whisper sneaker wedges (c/o), By Boe necklaces (c/o)

If Bonnie, Christina and I were in an actual gang, we'd have our own musical numbers from a playlist- West Side Story style- and you best believe Mariah Carey would be in there somewhere. We wouldn't get much done as far as the politics of it goes, but we'd definitely bust a move or two in public.

We partnered on up with Nine West to re-create their Nine & The Gang campaigns by featuring one of their footwear collections & stylin' them up. We chose the sneaker wedges since they were a little unexpected and a bit more city-slickin' friendly for us, and I jumped on these chrome numbers for their sci-fi appeal. Paired 'em on up with some basics and boom!

This is my gang, what’s yours? Share your gang photos on Instagram or Twitter tagging @NineWest with the hashtag #NineAndTheGang and you can win free shoes for your entire gang! Hey-o!! Official rules can be found here

Vintage blouse/scarf, W118 by Walter Baker coat (c/o), BDG jeans, Laurel belt/bag, Jeffrey Campbell boots

It was a beautiful day, a day that beckoned for a fanny pack.
Isn't that thing weirdly glamorous for almost no reason? I always love something new to experiment with, and this was just the right amount of unexpectedly cool. I couldn't pass it up when I walked into it at the Beacon's Closet next to school (a must visit if you ever find yourself in NYC!). That place always kills me, I'll find something really cool for really inexpensive within my 20 minute class break and then head to my next class with it. Straight up dangerous.

I also picked up these boots recently after totally falling in love with them at Free People. I was so excited when they arrived in the mail that I put them on immediately, but within 3 hours of having them on my feet, the right heel cap popped off, never to be seen again. I love ya JC, but you gotta get it together with this quality situation, especially if you're charging up to $300 for a pair shoes.

On a lighter note, classes end for me this Wednesday! One more paper to go 'till freedom! Let's do this...

Datter Industries eye ring, chain rings via eBay (gold, silver)

If I'm looking for something super specific and I can't afford it under normal circumstances, I turn to eBay. For ages I was DYING for a little chain Catbird ring, but I'm broke as ever and just out of curiosity, I searched a few things on eBay. Half an hour later I found these rings and I couldn't be happier with them, the chain is rounded and comfortable, and they have a good deal of shine. Man, I love a good deal.

This passed weekend was insanity and magic, but more on that later.
Earlier on Saturday, I roamed about the Lower East Side and acted a fool with Laura, Justin & Christina after getting some tacos and sloshing in the rain.

Everyday I forget how RED! my hair is since my last trip to Arrojo two weeks ago. I dig it, but it takes me by surprise still because I'm not used to such brightness. Weirdly enough, I find myself subconsciously choosing to wear at least one blue thing everyday to balance the red one way or another. Not really sure if it's doing anything, but eh, why not? Plus, you can't go wrong with just throwing on a denim jacket when you need the extra layer. City livin'.

Joe has a nifty little spot right under the Manhattan bridge, and every once in a while, the door to the roof gets opened.

Finals have been a load on my mind, so yesterday we chilled out up there for a bit and took advantage of the spot of warm weather we had that afternoon.
