Frizz Free Friday: The Secret to a Perfect French Manicure

Yeah, dude. Things just got a whole lot easier.
never attempted an at-home french manicure before. My mom is an illustrator, and so I never wanted to put her to shame by clumsily free-handing a goopy band of white nail polish across my nails. It would be adorable if I was like, 5, but I'm not, so there's no hope there.

Enter: Band-Aids as guides.
I had a stroke of genius when I found a band-aid on my floor after watching water marble manicure tutorials on youtube and noticing how some chose to tape-off their nails to avoid messups. Riveting story, I know.

The best way to go is to use sheer plastic 5/8 in x 3 in Band-aids (1.9 cm x 7.6 cm). Flexible fabric ones don't really do the trick becuse they will soak up polish and get super messy really fast. Just place the Band-Aid on your DRY, manicured nail, polish off, wait a few seconds to dry and then pull the Band-Aid off upward and towards your cuticle, not in the direction of your nail. This will prevent the plastic from smudging your line. Et voila! When done right, it's really quite foolproof.

Polishes: CND's "Electric Orange" #545 & "Sophia" #574 with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri topcoat

  10. Genius! I can't wait to try it out.

I've also heard of using loose leaf reinforcements (but those aren't big enough for some of my nails)

  11. This is awesome! I just don't get the upwards and towards your cuticle part vs. not pulling in the direction of your nail.

I usually use the 3 hole reinforcers because I can put 10 on at once.

  12. I'm going to try this. Using the little stick on strips made for French manicures is a huge pain in the neck, but Band-Aids look MUCH easier. What a great idea.

Hope you did well on your exams. :)
