Here's what I actually donned, before/after Polyvore. This sweatshirt is one of my prized possessions; mostly because the amount of detail put into it is exquisite, but also because it jingles as I walk, which is always a plus.

Reminiscing: Polyvore Live Presented by Covergirl
2.25.2012
So, I haven't had the chance to post about this extraordinary opportunity since Fashion Week; mostly because of the excessive need to catch up on schoolwork, but also because I just seriously cannot believe I got the chance to do something so awesome and cool and fun and ohmygawd did that seriously happen?
I posted about Polyvore Live on ze Tumblr and Twitter, but here's the breakdown:
On Febrary 13th, myself and 22 amazingly talented bloggers got the chance to represent four Fashion Institute of Technology alumni: Lauren Bagliore, Vengsarkar Budhu, Sergio Guadarrama and Dana-Maxx Pomerantz by wearing their designs down the catwalk in one seriously fun show. As bloggers, all of us felt like it was a dream come true to finally experience the industry in a different way.

Vintage blazer & belt, thrifted Gap shorts & vest, James Perse blouse, 7 For All Mankind wedges, thrifted clutch, Persol sunglasses, forefinger ring via eBay
I spent an afternoon actin' a fool with Dan, who's been one of my best friends since 8th grade. We were a dynamic duo all throughout high school, so it was no surprise that we both ended up at the same college. We met up after classes and bounced around SoHo before chillin' around my apartment complex. This really just meant awkwardly walking around and taking advantage of the vacant playground.
I spent my whole day in these insanely comfy and spring-tastic 7FAM wedges. I always knew their jeans were cool, but the folks at 7 For All Mankind also make some surprisingly cool footwear (I mean, these velvet beauties with a white button-down and loose boyfriend jeans?! Amazeee?!). I also ended up going double-denim underneath my new favorite boyfriend blazer. I picked up these Gap shorts and vest at a favorite thrift store when I was in high school, and it never dawned on me that they might be from the same collection until I wore them together! Gotta experiment wearing them together more minimally once the weather gets warmer...

Free People sheer panel tunic, Martel leather detailed cardigan, 3.1 Philip Lim blazer, UO faux leather pants, Candela shoes, Vintage Coach bag, scarf made from a length of vintage fabric
Dressing for Fashion Week involves a lot of pressure, man! You're supposed to don the best combinations of clothing imaginable in order seduce the lens of any street style photographer you happen to pass by. Generally, yes, this is the angle I would end up styling myself around during NYFW, but this season...eh. I just wanted to be comfortable!
Here I am actually wearing that Martel cardigan, I love layering it in a way that lets the leather detailing just add an unexpected touch to the ensemble. Here it kinda takes things to a whole different level, although I guess that does require you to look at my butt. Oops.

Martel cardigan, Silence & Noise jeans
Futzing around with this awesome new piece I have from Martel's (first!) spring '12 collection. Antonia Martel certainly has a way with leather detailing and shape-shifting pieces. This cardigan pretty much has everything that I'm really into these days, with these thin leather strips cascading down the back like the reflection of branches on a rippling lake. I especially love wearing it plainly, with just a plain white tee, jeans & boots to amp up some edginess.

Frizz Free Friday: Backstage Beauty & One Amazing Tip
2.17.2012
So here are some shots from backstage at Milly and Nanette Lepore. I prefer shooting backstage than the actual show sometimes because sometimes you find yourself in the middle of a learning experience! Despite all the chaos, the makeup artists from both shows were able to provide me with some really great tricks and tips along with the looks the designers were looking to achieve for the season.

Front and Back: Nanette Lepore
2.15.2012
I really, really wish I could express how utterly EXHAUSTED I am after this past week! Between Polyvore Live (photos to come) and the dozens of shows I managed to get around, I have literally over a thousand photos to sift through!
Even though I have so, so many photos to share and edit, but I thought I'd post some shots I got today after Nanette Lepore. I was super excited for this collection because a few weeks back, I attended a Blogger brunch with Nanette, where she explained that her inspiration for her Fall '12 collection came from dandyism and Oscar Wilde. I mean, BE STILL MY FRIGGIN' HEART?! Oscar Wilde was quite possibly one of the best-dressed English writers of his time, epitomizing dandies and male eccentricity in the 19th century.
The collection was thoughtful and super fun. Colors are jewel-toned or super bright with close attention paid to rich textures like velvet, gold threading, silk and shiny Laurex. I noticed patterns were reminiscent of a particular series of photos by photographer Napoleon Sarony of Wilde lounging about, fabulously surrounded by the elaborate walls and of his favorite hotel. Notice his stockings in his full portraits? Ugh, I love him! I really respect how Nanette interpreted her inspiration, it's hard to make mistakes when your heart is in the right place.
