I really, really wish I could express how utterly EXHAUSTED I am after this past week! Between Polyvore Live (photos to come) and the dozens of shows I managed to get around, I have literally over a thousand photos to sift through!
Even though I have so, so many photos to share and edit, but I thought I'd post some shots I got today after Nanette Lepore. I was super excited for this collection because a few weeks back, I attended a Blogger brunch with Nanette, where she explained that her inspiration for her Fall '12 collection came from
dandyism and
Oscar Wilde. I mean, BE STILL MY FRIGGIN' HEART?! Oscar Wilde was quite possibly one of the best-dressed English writers of his time, epitomizing dandies and male eccentricity in the 19th century.
The collection was thoughtful and super fun. Colors are jewel-toned or super bright with close attention paid to rich textures like velvet, gold threading, silk and shiny Laurex. I noticed patterns were reminiscent of a particular
series of photos by photographer Napoleon Sarony of Wilde lounging about, fabulously surrounded by the elaborate walls and of his favorite hotel. Notice his stockings in his full portraits? Ugh, I love him! I really respect how Nanette interpreted her inspiration, it's hard to make mistakes when your heart is in the right place.
